As a conceptual artist, my work is situated between play and violence, the sublime and the chaotic, and focuses on framing life and the process as critical and necessary spaces of discourse, expression, subjectivity, and discovery.

Both subtle and explicit violence have always been a part of my life, entwined often with abjection and connection. This is not an uncommon experience for an American woman to have. We live under a constant threat of varying kinds of violence, whether interpersonal, political, or systemic; implicit or explicit; imagined and very, very real.

My practice centers around performance, installation, video, teaching, and writing. I create spaces of play and connection to explore trauma-informed embodiment, the power and seductiveness of violence, healing through connection, abjection, intersectional feminism, and anti-capitalism. Ultimately, this is a process of working towards  a reconciliation of identity and society through attempting to answer these questions in theory and in practice:

How do we nurture true and authentic connections in a place that values transactions and extractions of value? How do we survive the ever-encroaching extractions and trauma of capitalist machinery? How do we create a space for healing? How do we hold onto love in a country of such hate? How do we create a safe place for feminist rage? How do we practice compassion in a land of zero sum everything? How do we teach people about the systems of oppression in this country and counter the fantastical illusion of rugged individualism?

Co-founder and former member of SPOOKY BOOBS.
